OUSD Administrator Honored at the Project GLAD® Trainer Conference

ORANGE, CALIF. – October 9, 2015 – Orange Unified School District’s (OUSD) Administrator of K-12 Academic Content Design, Lisa Green, received the Outstanding Project GLAD® (Guided Language Acquisition Design) Administrator of the Year Award at this year’s Orange County Department of Education’s (OCDE) Project GLAD® 23rd Annual Conference. OCDE honors one exemplary administrator yearly who has the greatest impact on English Learners and teachers who train in the program.

Project GLAD® is a model of professional development dedicated to building academic language and literacy for all students, especially English Language Learners. The GLAD® model enhances teachers’ design and delivery of standards-based instruction through an integrated approach. Project GLAD® classrooms promote an environment that respects and honors each child (OCDE.us, 2015). Green’s leadership and commitment to Project GLAD® in OUSD has been instrumental in the program’s success. Throughout her many roles in the District, she has continuously supported the structure of Project GLAD® training.

“I am honored to receive this recognition. Our English Learner Instructional Specialists have been a great support for teachers in implementing Project GLAD strategies, so that all students can acquire academic language and literacy in an environment that honors a child’s voice,” stated Green received her award.

Prior to serving in the Curriculum and Instruction Department, Lisa Green was the District’s English Learner Coordinator, providing staff development and support to District schools, helping teachers lead their English Learners toward academic success, English language acquisition, and cross-cultural skills. Lisa also worked as a classroom teacher and a resource teacher at Jordan Elementary for eleven years, and a Teacher on Special Assignment for English Learner Services. Green is the epitome of a supportive and visionary leader, always allowing her team to attend training, provide training and maintain a Project GLAD® training center to benefit OUSD students. OUSD congratulates Lisa Green on this well-deserved honor and accomplishment.
